With many of our students going on to study in the sciences and engineering in university, the foundational year of physics is an important one.

MaST students in Grade 11 physics cover an enriched curriculum to them prepare for challenges in Grade 12 and beyond.  This enrichment includes discussions on scientific ethics and current research in physics and also includes challenges such as the Ontario Association of Physics Teachers’ Contest for Grade 11 students and McMaster’s physics contest.

Our students also compete in our Sci-Tech fair, inquiring and experiment over a 6 week period mid-year.  Many of our students have gone to represent and win medals for Danforth at the Metro Sci-Tech fair.

Physics is also about having fun and trying out hands on activities to reinforce concepts taught in class.  Below are students creating standing waves with giant slinkies!
