An exploration into the process behind creating todays technology. It is a project driven, broad based course covering Communications, Transportation, Manufacturing, and Construction. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, research skills and creativity. Projects include car design, urban planning, rocket design and 3d animation. This course is a good foundation for students interested in the Gr. 11 Architecture course. Skills learned in these courses have allowed students to compete in Skills Canada competitions that have won gold medals for Danforth in the past.
Students become proficient at utillizing professional design software like AutoCAD and 3D Studio MAX. Solutions designed with this software, are either built by hand or with the use of a 3D printer. The examples shown here are of rockets that must survive a launch of several hundred feet and be designed to be able to launch a payload back again.
